machine

Sorry these days I'm really busy but is a pleasure to show you my new video compilation "The machine of sensations".
This machine explains two parallel truths in the artist and the muse. They challenge each other, love and hate, union and separateness. The photographs and drawings of the muse take their own meaning when she is abandoned in different parts of Paris. The pictures also fly through the air when the artist is trying to discard of her.
Images displayed on the video try to establish an abstract and surreal symbiosis, evoking feelings of unity and disunity, of love and adventure that begin and end with the author and his muse.

I posted these two videos some time ago. Now I go back to show you again :)
Además vuelvo a publicar estos dos vídeos que espero os gusten.

Oh Pachi you allround-genious! I didn`t know you did video art too. On the one hand I`d say “only the real, inspired artist works all the forms of expression”, on the other hand I`d say “success lies in specialisation”. But you`re still young, it`s great that you`re experimenting with art and explore art`s limits and your artistic identity through this. Who knows, maybe one day when you`re famous people will say “the video art was the early stage of Pachi`s art”.
(As for my own taste I love your collages, where you mix illustration and photography, the most so far.)

Before I watch the videos, let me start by saying, that I`m fascinated by the concept of the artist and the muse. It`s a philosophical question like the chicken and the egg – what was there first? What is “the real source”?
You say the “process of inspiration” (“the kiss of the muse”) is a dualistic process but that is only correct on the surface. To me it`s more like a chain-reaction:

Muse (blessed with divine beauty that only this one artist can fully perceive) -> artist -> unique, inspired artistic output

To the Machine of Sensations now. Do I see Claudia Schiffer there? :) (well, great muse!) The choice of black and white colour is great because it enables you to combine very different elements successfully (like the steel-construction and the cathedral). The black and white is the unifying element. The drawing of the muse shows her “relative existance” in your eyes (not “definite, physical existance”). As the artist, you have the power to move her around in your artistic vision, as to placing her picture in different places, settings and angles. You “make her who she is”. That`s a powerful position but it`s ambivalent because your weak spot is, that this “divine, inspiring creature” (the muse) is just a VISION. Like a mirage, you can chase her, perceive her but you`ll never reach, touch or possess her. Isn`t that painful?
Is that why the drawing of the muse have to fly away into the sky? Because chasing a vision is unsatisfying?
I wonder: “who is releasing who?” The muse doesn`t suffer in the artistic process, rather the opposite, what the artist sees in her is flattering and nourishes her vanity. It`s only the artist who needs “relief” from the “inspiration”, which can easily become an obsession (which always causes pain). I see this relief in your face in the end of the video.

I wonder “why a muse burns out”. Why is that divine process of inspiration not eternal? Is it because of the “artist`s suffering”? We could ask Karl Lagerfeld this question. Claudia was his muse in the early 90s, then he pushed her away in a very cruel way (saying “she was over” etc.) but then he took her back recently. Interesting how a flame can go on and off.

To Black Tears now. I loooooooove the music you chose!!!!!!! It is so meditative, so deep! It`s a way of singing that comes deep from the throat, depth is the nature of this sound. Fantastic! The flowing fabric in the wind is so poetic. I love it`s motion, it`s true e-motion! Makes me wonder; what is she longing for? What is her unfulfilled desire? The “reverse crying”, the black tears look so genious.
You did a wonderful and very sensitive job in visualizing how “sadness kreeps into us” from the outside, how unfulfilled desires or disapointments, or loss from the outside become sadness, despair and surrender within us. I love this video SO MUCH!

Electric beauty now. Oh yeah, the Prodigy! *love love love them* It`s amazing how the music gives the illustrations more meaning. I would have read the pictures totally different if there had been classical music f.e. The “screams” add to my reading of a strong, sexual connotation. The open, “willing” mouth looks like “pure pleasure for the sake of pleasure” to me (unlike the vagina, where pleasure could lead to making a child). With this reading the woman is “objectified” to a sexual object. (Psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan would say I, as a female, have this reading because I`m always desiring the phallus and therefore “imagine it” into the picture :) )
A second reading is possible, if you imagine “the off”, if you speculate about what the art does NOT show. Could the open mouth be a mourning of HER own sexual pleasure? On her own? With a partner?

The Black Tears video is my favourite of the three because I perceive it as the most “intuitive” one. It doesn`t ask any questions. It`s just pure emotion and human nature.
(It`s great when art is philosophical but philosophy is analytical, it`s a rational process. To me, the true, sensive artist allows himself and his art to glide into the irration / emotional world, where thoughts end and the “higher states”, the divine, begins. Black Tears is one of those states!)

Hi, Jenny! Thanks a lot for your interesting and intelligent answer. I'm very grateful for your interest and motivation about my works. I always speak about the language between muse and artist. I created my muse (Sonÿ) when I was a child. A lot of women inspired her face, and I like to change her face when I want. Claudia is also an inspiration for me, so sometimes Sonÿ looks like Claudia. The most recognizable part of Sonÿ is her nose. When I was a child I began drawing her as a cat, starting every drawing from the nose. Sonÿ grows up with me and she changed her face and her body. Now is a woman with a cat nose, so in her nose remains her past.

In Machine of Sensations I try to express a lot of concepts around freedom, love and hate. Sometimes me and my muse are ok, because she inspires me, but other times I don't feel free with her and she doesn't feel free with me. I prefer to take different Sonÿ drawings and throw them to the air, even to let them in different places. With this action I give Sonÿ freedom and I also get my own freedom. For me this isn't an obssesive relationship.

For me, Sonÿ doesn't represent what everybody thinks about a muse, she's like an actress representing different characters. When I tell or I draw her beauty I'm drawing her character in this moment, but other times I represent her own reality, but I never tell when she is the the real Sonÿ or the actress. So that when you say the muse doesn't pains because the artist only represents beauty, for me is more than this, because a lot of times I draw her feelings and her own reality, and this is to show her soul. This may be uncomfortable for her ;)

I also love Karl Lagerfeld's works, but I don't agree with him about Claudia, about his way of acting with Claudia. He was envious and unfair with her. But now all of this has changed and they are making interesting photoshoots, campaings and different things. I don't feel this envy of Sonÿ. She's sometimes part of me, she helps me to express my own reality.

About Black Tears... The music of this video is from Eyes Wide Shut OST. Kubrik is not only a great director but a great music lover. I love you like the video because, as you say, it doesn't make questions. For me, the woman in the video is asking the beholder where is her lover, because she's alone. The landscape and the fabric represent lonliness as a strange dream. I like what you comment about the creeping of sadness, it's what I wanted to represent.

About Electric Beauty... Your vision about this video is really interesting because it has sexual concepts. In my view it represents the bad. She knows her evilness, she's feline, and she uses her arms to conquer the world. I agree with you about the sexual context, it's fun. In this video I don't speak about the beauty of woman, I try to photograph different views of this evil beauty.

Sorry for this late reply, it's very important for me to answer you thinking what I write because I appreciate your interest on my work. It'a pleasure to have a fun with such a good taste for fashion and art. I love your blog.

Kisses, Pachi.
